Secondary Transfer Testing

The secondary transfer test is used to determine whether or not a child is suited to a grammar school.  Buckinghamshire Council supports all schools in the administration  of the test on behalf of the 13 grammar schools. Although all children are entered the test is optional and if you are not considering a grammar school then you can withdraw your child from the testing process.

Further information on grammar schools can be found here The Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools | Home (

This familiarisation-booklet.pdf ( will explain the types of questions and how the answer sheets will look for the children. An further additional booklet is available from GL Assessment Free Materials – GL 11+ ( .
